How to Wash Cotton Slippers
There is nothing more comfortable than wearing a pair of cotton slippers for your casual outing or perhaps walking around in your neighborhood. There is no doubt that cotton slippers are very comfortable to wear. However, the only issue many people have with cotton sneakers is when they do get dirty. Getting them clean can be a Herculean task for many people. Well, if you are facing any difficulties getting your slippers clean, then this post will provide you the requisite guidelines on how to wash cotton slippers properly.
Items needed to wash cotton slippers
Before you can actually start the process of washing your slippers, you will need to make sure that you have gathered the following items:
- Laundry detergent
- Washing bowl
- Clean rag
- Old toothbrush
- Warm water
Prepare a cleaning solution
It is imperative that you prepare a cleaning solution to help you continue with the cleaning process. At this stage, with the cleaning items that you have gathered, you should fill a bowl with clean warm water, and then add a few drops of laundry detergent, stir until your mixture is foamy.
Prepare your slippers to be cleaned
I will recommend that before water gets into contact with your slippers, you should ensure that your slippers are clean off any excess dirt such as dust or dried mud. So how do you ensure this? Well, this is very simple; all you will need to do is to use an old toothbrush to brush off any excess dirt on the upper and around the sole areas of the slippers.
Immerse and soak your slippers into the cleaning solution
If you are done with removing all excess dirt on your slippers, then you are now ready for the next stage. This stage involves immersing your slippers into the cleaning solution that you have prepared. Make sure that the solution is properly absorbed by the slippers. You can use your fingers to help the solution properly get into all areas of the slippers. When done, you should let your slippers soak for about 10-15 minutes.
Scrub your slippers
After your slippers have soaked in the solution for about 10-15 minutes, then you can now scrub using a very soft bristle brush. You can also use rag to help you scrub off dirt on your slippers.
When you are done scrubbing and you are satisfied with the cleanness of your slippers, then the next stage involves rinsing off with clean warm water to get rid of all soap residues on your slippers.
Dry your slippers
After rinsing, you should now dry your slippers. You can dry your cotton slippers on a drying line outside, in a well ventilated area. However, try to avoid drying under direct sunlight which could ruin the material and as well fade the color of your slippers.
