How to Clean White Converse Sneakers by Hand
The white colors of the Converse sneakers are one of the most fashionable shoes you can have in your wardrobe as a guy. They are also highly versatile, so this means that you can easily pair them with different types of attires. What items do you need to clean white Converse sneakers?
In order to have your white Converse look fresh and clean again, you should have the following cleaning items ready.
- Washing basin (3)
- Warm water
- Eco-friendly laundry detergent
- Scrubbing brush
- Clean rag
- Baking soda
Brush off excess dirt (mud)
Once you have gotten all the requisite cleaning items, you will then have to ensure that your Converse sneakers are ready to be cleaned. At this stage, you will have to wipe or brush off any excess dirt, such as dried mud on your shoes. You should a soft bristled toothbrush to help you get rid of excess dirt on your shoes.
Prepare cleaning solution
You will need to prepare a cleaning solution. From the items above, you can prepare a cleaning solution by mixing ¼ cup of laundry detergent with 2 ½ cups of warm water in your washing bowl. Prepare similar solution in another washing bowl.
Remove shoelaces and insoles
The next stage, when you are done with brushing off excess dirt, is to un-thread your shoelaces and remove the insoles of your shoes. For your shoelaces, you can soak the shoelaces in the one of the cleaning solutions you prepared; whiles you shoe insoles can be hanged on a drying line to freshen them.
Scrub your Converse sneakers
When you are done with all the above, your Converse sneakers are now ready to be cleaned. You can clean your shoes, by dipping a scrubbing brush into the other cleaning solution and gently scrub in a circular motion the upper parts of your white Converse sneakers. Repeat this process, and make sure all areas of the upper parts are thoroughly scrubbed. For the sole area of your Converse sneakers, you can use a much harder bristled scrubbing brush to scrub in a similar manner like you did with the upper parts.
Rinse your shoes
Once you are done and satisfied with the cleanness of your shoes, the next step involves rinsing your shoes. In rinsing your shoes, fill another basin of water with clean warm water and then dip clean rag into the basin of water and wipe off all soap residues on the upper and sole areas of your shoe.
Dry your shoes
When your shoes are now clean and looking bright, the next stage involves drying them. You will have to dry your shoes in a well ventilated area. Avoid drying your shoes under direct sunlight, as they will get damaged.
Wash shoelaces and dry them
After drying your shoes, it is now time to wash your shoelaces, rinse them and dry on a drying line.
When your shoes, shoelaces and insoles are all dried, you can now place back the insoles and thread back the shoelaces. Sprinkle some baking soda inside your shoes, to give a nice smell, and wait for a couple of hours before wearing them.
